‘Practice what you preach’, a saying so well-known. Something we have to remind ourselves of every once in a while. And even though we’re not trying to preach over here – on our little spot on the world wide web – we do make statements and share our opinion on certain topics. It’s not without reason that we only post once a week (Sundays at 8am!). We believe that there is so much (sometimes too much) going on in life, so many stimuli and so much information. We don’t want to add any unnecessary clutter to the lives of our readers, to you. And to our own lives as well. We want you to feel inspired by our blogpost at the start of every week and take that inspiration with you. We want you (and ourselves) to spend time offline, resting, playing, enjoying life.
Balance
Blogging, for us, is all about trying to find balance between work and rest, our real life and our online life, between quantity and quality, between what’s doable and what’s not. So, that one blogpost a week is not only because it’s the best for our lives, but also, in a way, a statement. To say: ‘this is enough’, ‘this is our limit’, ‘this is the right balance between work and rest’.
Resting is not easy. Relaxing is not easy, either. Taking the time to rest takes a conscious effort. Making time for doing nothing, hanging around, daydreaming, taking a nap… we know it’s important, but it can be difficult. Our bodies aren’t made to go go go and never stop. We need time off. How can you incorporate rest in your week? Do you make it a habit? Do you schedule it in your agenda? Is meditation, yoga, a morning walk (like Nina described in last week’s post) a way to give yourself some time off? How important is rest to you?
We’re off, we’re gone!
For many people, including us, the ultimate way to recharge your battery is a vacation. Sometimes, another bed to sleep in, a new culture or different surroundings are exactly what your body longs for. And guess what? We’re currently doing just that! We are, when this blogpost goes live, on a sunny island in Spain called Ibiza. Undoubtedly enjoying the sunshine, the sea, lazy mornings and delicious food. We can’t wait to share our experience with you guys! But for now, we’re out of office.. and into adventures and relaxation.
