Ever feel like you’re just going through your workday without a proper break? You have a lot on your plate and need to get things done. No time to eat or get some coffee. All work, no play. But then, you get stuck creatively. You lose focus. Or maybe you feel tired way before the day is done. You just sit there staring at your screen. Thinking about what to do next. Waiting for the energy and inspiration to come back. Mindlessly scrolling through Facebook. Overhearing the conversations of colleagues or guests at the café where you’re working. But nothing helps. They’re only counterproductive distractions.
Often the best thing to do, is to get away from your current activity and clear your head. Just for fifteen minutes or so. A truly mindful work break. So you can make room for fresh ideas and new energy. A few ideas for a short break to help you get back on track:
- Write a postcard to a friend or family member.
- Take fifteen minutes to eat that croissant that you bought on the way to work this morning.
- Take a walk and get some fresh air. No phone, no newspaper, no music. Just you, your thoughts and the sound of birds. Or go get some coffee.
- If you work from home, clear the dishes. Do some laundry. Make your bed. Let your hands do some work while you let your mind wander.
Fijne tips! Hartelijk dank en fijn weekend.
