The sound of my alarm clock rudely awakens me from my sleep. It’s ringing, it’s buzzing. I hate it. There’s only one way for me to get up and out of bed at this hour. Well, one way besides waking up on vacation with the prospect of exciting adventures, midday naps and delicious food. My hand automatically grabs my phone, turns of the – annoying – alarm and, still half asleep, I start my morning playlist.
Morning Music
Morning person or not, music is the favorite part of my morning routine. There are many great ways to start the day, but music sets the tone for the day ahead. The perfect morning playlist not only wakes you up with ease (or lovingly prods you), but also greatly influences your mood.
Don’t make the same mistake as I did when I created my first morning playlist: using slow songs and soft melodies. Those will NOT wake you up, they will make your bed seem even comfier and your snooze button even more alluring. No, you need to think about the songs that make it on your playlist. Choose them carefully. Choose the ones that make you happy, that are energizing (but don’t go overboard), that will set you in the right the mood, that will make you feel excited for a new day.
Our current favorites? You might want to try this mixture of – soft and sweet, upbeat and catchy – songs to get your playlist started.
There Will Be Time – Mumford & Sons, Babaa Maal
Drive Darling – BOY
Adieu – Coeur de Pirate
Down South – Jeremy Loops
Nebraska – Adam Barnes
What gets you out of bed in the morning? Is it music or something else?
